NEW! Saucony Triumph ISO 3 vs. Saucony Kinvara 8

The Saucony Triumph ISO 3 and the Saucony Kinvara 7 are both neutral cushioning running shoes that are geared toward different kinds of runners. The Saucony Triumph ISO 3 is more for training and the Saucony Kinvara 7 more for performance runs.

ADVERTISEMENTS

Because the Saucony Kinvara 7 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com is a performance running shoe, it has been kept light so that runners can go fast.

This lightness is reflected in its upper, which does not have any stitched-on overlays and only comes with light welded-on overlays in addition to a strap that wraps around the midfoot to give you additional support.

The Saucony Triumph ISO 3 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com, on the other hand, comes with stiched-on overlays in its upper.

These overlays significantly increase the amount of support the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 provides, but the strap on the Saucony Kinvara 7 has a similar function.

The overlays have been placed far back so that you do not get irritation in the forefoot, and compared to the Saucony Kinvara 7, the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 does not come with overlays on its toe box, except for the Saucony logo on the lateral side.

Therefore, the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 might provide a bit more freedom in the toe box than the Saucony Kinvara 7.

Another key difference between the uppers is that the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 comes with a Support Frame at the back, while the Saucony Kinvara 7 does not.

All in all, both running shoes should be able to keep your foot firmly on the running platform, but the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 might offer a bit more durable support through its upper than the Saucony Kinvara 7.

While both the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 and the Saucony Kinvara 7 are neutral cushioning running shoes so are meant to provide cushioning to runners, the fact that the Saucony Kinvara 7 has been kept light would also imply that it would provide less cushioning than the Saucony Triumph ISO 3.

This is partly true when you look at the results of running shoe lab tests.

Men should not notice a large difference between the cushioning of the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 and the Saucony Kinvara 7.

Both have a very cushy forefoot, but the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 provides a bit more heel cushioning to men than the Saucony Kinvara 7 does, but both can be seen as having a cushy heel.

Women might feel a difference between the cushioning of the two running shoes.

According to running shoe lab tests, the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 provides an overall very soft ride to women, and the Saucony Kinvara 7 provides lots of forefoot cushioning but much less heel cushioning than the Saucony Triumph ISO 3.

In fact, the Saucony Kinvara 7 could feel like it has a firm heel to some women.

Both the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 and the Saucony Kinvara 7 provide a good amount of ground contact, but because neither one is a stability running shoe, the amount of stability they provide is about average.

A big difference between these two Saucony running shoes can be found in the outsoles.

The Saucony Kinvara 7 tries to keep things light by providing a minimum amount of rubber in its outsole, so rubber can be found only in high-wear areas.

The Saucony Triumph ISO 3, on the other hand, provides a generous amount of rubber throughout its entire outsole and also has a good amount of flex grooves.

So in this respect, the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 is a much more durable running shoe than the Saucony Kinvara 7.

What running shoe lab tests also show is that the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 is much more flexible than the Saucony Kinvara 7 for both men and women.

The women's version of the Saucony Kinvara 7 weighs approximately 6.6 oz (187 grams) and the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 for women weighs 8.7 oz (247 grams).

The men's versions of the shoes weigh 7.7 oz (218 grams) and 10.8 oz (306 grams), respectively, with the Saucony Kinvara 7 being the lighter one.

If you are a neutral runner, you could choose either the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 or the Saucony Kinvara 7, but the best one for you depends on your running needs.

If you want to feel light and fast, the Saucony Kinvara 7 would be the one to look into, but if you are going on long runs and want a comfortable, soft, and flexible ride, then the Saucony Triumph ISO 3 might be able to give you what you need.

Note: The weight of a running shoe depends on the size of the running shoe, so any weights mentioned in this review may differ from the weight of the running shoe you choose to wear. Running shoes of the same size were compared for this review.
