ADVERTISEMENTS

The uppers of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com and the Brooks Ravenna 8 are somewhat similar in construction, because both have a wide open forefoot that is free from overlays and they both have overlays that run more towards the back of the running shoes.

However, the Brooks Ravenna 8 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com might provide a bit more support through its overlays than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 due to the fact that it comes with a strap that can be adjusted through the saddle and because its overlays cover a larger part of the upper than those on the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18.

The Brooks Ravenna 8 might also prove to be a bit more durable at the front where it has a stitched-on overlay as a toecap, while the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 comes with no-sew overlays in that area.

The mesh of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 has more structure and is a bit more open than that of the Brooks Ravenna 8, but because both running shoes do not have overlays on the front part of the upper, they both should feel pretty comfortable in that area.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 and the Brooks Ravenna 8 make use of the same type of midsole material and cushioning.

While both the Brooks Ravenna 8 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 provide an above average amount of cushioning to both men and women, running shoe lab tests indicate that the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is the cushier running shoe of the two.

The amount of forefoot cushioning in the Brooks Ravenna 8 has been kept on the average side so that it might turn out to be a bit more responsive than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18, which delivers a bit more cushioning in that area.

Both the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 and the Brooks Ravenna 8 come with reinforcement on the medial side of the midsole to help stop the feet of overpronators from rolling too far inward.

While the area of pronation control is long in both running shoes, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is the one that has a more proninent medial post that runs higher than in the Brooks Ravenna 8 and consists of several densities of foam to make the process of pronation control more gradual.

Another element of stability is the crash pad on the lateral side under the heel of the Brooks Ravenna 8 that connects well to the forefoot area right under the midfoot to provide faster heel-to-toe transitions.

The entire lateral side of the midsole of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is well segmented to provide a good amount of stability and smooth heel-to-toe transitions.

The good amount of ground contact, medial reinforcement, and lateral shock absorption, all contribute to the stability of a running shoe, but running shoe lab tests indicate that the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is a much more stable running shoe than the Brooks Ravenna 8.

The rubber outsoles of the Brooks Ravenna 8 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 are similar in that they come with small rubber pods in the forefoot and provide a good amount of separation.

The Brooks Ravenna 8 has one flex groove more than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18, which may have contributed to the Brooks Ravenna 8 being a bit more flexible than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18.

However, this flexibility applies mostly to the female version of the Brooks Ravenna 8. The male version is a bit stiffer in that respect and just a bit more flexible than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 but not by much.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is generally stiff but not extremely stiff, which adds a bit to the stability of the running shoe.

The women's version of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 weighs approximately 8.3 oz (235 grams), while the Brooks Ravenna 8 for women weighs approximately 9.0 oz (255 grams).

The men's version of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 weighs about 9.7 oz (275 grams), and the Brooks Ravenna 8 for men weighs about 10.8 oz (306 grams).

If you are an overpronator, you could choose to run in either the Brooks Ravenna 8 or the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18.

The Brooks Ravenna 8 provides less stability and support than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 but might feel a bit more responsive. It is more suitable for mild to moderate overpronators.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 provides a large amount of stability and support, and perhaps also a much smoother and softer ride than the Brooks Ravenna 8. It is more suitable for runners who fall between moderate and severe overpronators.
