ADVERTISEMENTS

The uppers of the Brooks Glycerin 14 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com are quite different.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 comes with mostly no-sew overlays in its upper. This includes the overlays that wrap the midfoot where you tend to need the most support.

The Brooks Glycerin 14 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com, on the other hand, comes with broad overlays that contain some stitches and that wrap the midfoot to give a good amount of support there.

Stitched-on overlays tend to be more supportive than no-sew overlays, so in the latter case, the amount of support you would get from the Brooks Glycerin 14 is greater than that provided by the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16.

The Brooks Glycerin 14 finishes off its upper with 3D Stretch Print overlays that are meant to give you a more custom fit and that go around the entire upper.

Unlike the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16, which is meant to provide a lot of stability and support, the Brooks Glycerin 14 is meant to provide a very soft ride.

This difference starts in the midsole, where the Brooks Glycerin 14 uses a type of midsole that provides 20% more cushioning than the midsole of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16.

The difference in amount of cushioning is evident from running shoe lab tests, which show that the Brooks Glycerin 14 is overall more cushy than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 for both men and women.

The amount of cushioning delivered by the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 is above average, but not as much as the amount delivered by the Brooks Glycerin 14.

Women should get a soft ride from the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 without the cushioning getting in the way of going fast.

However, if you are a woman who prefers a much softer ride, the Brooks Glycerin 14 could give you that because the amount of cushioning it provides comes close to the max.

Men should experience a super soft ride in the Brooks Glycerin 14, which offers almost a maximum amount of cushioning in both the heel and the forefoot.

However, while the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 offers an above average amount of forefoot cushioning, its heel might feel a bit firm to men.

The strength of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 becomes evident when you look at the amount of stability it provides, which is almost to the max, according to running shoe lab tests.

The latter is due to the fact that the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 comes with a very long post on the medial side of the midsole to control overpronation.

In addition, it has a full-length crash pad on the lateral side of the midsole that not only reduces impact at heel-strike but also provides you with a smooth transition from heel to toe.

The Brooks Glycerin 14 does not come with a medial post but its midsole has been constructed in a way that it provides a good amount of shock absorption and thus also a smooth ride from heel-to-toe.

Both the Brooks Glycerin 14 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 provide a good amount of ground contact, which also contributes to getting a smoother ride.

While the amount of stability offered by the Brooks Glycerin 14 is above average, it is not as much as the amount offered by the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16.

So if you need a real stability running shoe, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 would be the one to consider.

The outsoles of the two running shoes have a good amount of flex grooves and are well-separated for shock absorption and distribution, but according to running shoe lab tests, the Brooks Glycerin 14 is way more flexible than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16.

The women's version of the Brooks Glycerin 14 weighs approximately 8.9 oz (252 grams), while the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 for women weighs approximately 9.5 oz (269 grams).

The men's version of the Brooks Glycerin 14 weighs about 10.7 oz (303 grams), and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 for men weighs 11.1 oz (315 grams).

If you are a neutral runner, the Brooks Glycerin 14 would be the one to consider, because all of the support offered by the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 would get in your way and perhaps even annoy you.

And if you are an overpronator who needs a good amount of stability and support, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 would be the one to look into.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16 is also good for runners who need a lot of support that comes close to the amount provided by a motion control running shoe.

Note: The weight of a running shoe depends on the size of the running shoe, so any weights mentioned in this review may differ from the weight of the running shoe you choose to wear. Running shoes of the same size were compared for this review.
