ADVERTISEMENTS

The uppers of the Brooks Ghost 9 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com and the Brooks Transcend 3 are similar in that they have a minimum amount of stitches in them.

Structure and support is provided through no-sew overlays and the mesh itself.

The upper of the Brooks Transcend 3 is entirely seamless, while the Brooks Ghost 9 has some short stitches at the sides of the forefoot.

The Brooks Transcend 3 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com does not have overlays, but rather comes with several layers of mesh that wrap the entire foot.

The Brooks Ghost 9 has light no-sew overlays around the midfoot and mesh provides structure in the forefoot to give a bit of a hold there.

Both running shoes provide a good amount of support at the back, but the Brooks Transcend 3 has a sturdier construction to keep your heel in place.

All in all, you should be able to get a comfortable fit from either running shoe with the Brooks Transcend 3 providing a tiny bit more secure fit than the Brooks Ghost 9.

The midsoles of the Brooks Transcend 3 and the Brooks Ghost 9 consist of different types of cushioning.

The midsole of the Brooks Transcend 3 is meant to provide 20% more cushioning than that of the Brooks Ghost 9, and the Brooks Ghost 9 was not meant to be super cushy.

However, running shoe lab tests do not always show that the Brooks Transcend 3 is more cushy than the Brooks Ghost 9.

The Brooks Ghost 9 seems to have a more cushy heel than the Brooks Transcend 3 for both men and women.

And the Brooks Transcend 3 has a more cushy forefoot than the Brooks Ghost 9 for both men and women.

The amount of forefoot cushioning is above average in the Brooks Ghost 9, so it has a forefoot that is cushy but not too cushy.

The Brooks Transcend 3, on the other hand, provides forefoot cushioning that is almost to the max.

So if you are looking for a running shoe where the amount of forefoot cushioning will not get in the way of you trying to run faster, the Brooks Ghost 9 might be a better option.

The Brooks Ghost 9 is also a good option for heel-strikers.

The main differences between the midsoles of the Brooks Transcend 3 and the Brooks Ghost 9 are the crash pad in the Brooks Ghost 9 and the Guide Rails in the Brooks Transcend 3.

The Brooks Ghost 9 has a crash pad that runs along the entire length of the midsole on the lateral side. This allows the Brooks Ghost 9 to not only provide you with smooth transitions from heel-strike to toe-off but also increases the stability of the running shoe despite the Brooks Ghost 9 not being a stability running shoe.

The Brooks Transcend 3 does not have such a crash pad, but it comes with Guide Rails that are located along the upper edge of the midsole and that are intended to guide your body and foot into a more natural motion path. This is the way the Brooks Transcend 3 provides stability.

It also has a rounder heel than the Brooks Ghost 9 and distinct pressure zones in the outsole, all of which are intended to reduce stress on your body.

According to running shoe lab tests, the Brooks Ghost 9 provides a bit more stability than the Brooks Transcend 3 despite the Brooks Transcend 3 being the stability running shoe.

Running shoe lab tests also reveal that both running shoes are almsot equally stiff for both men and women despite them displaying a good amount of separation in their outsoles.

The amount of ground contact is about the same under the two running shoes, but the Brooks Transcend 3 provides a bit more than the Brooks Ghost 9 directly under the midfoot.

The women's version of the Brooks Ghost 9 weighs approximately 9.0 oz (255 grams), while the Brooks Transcend 3 for women weighs approximately 9.2 oz (261 grams).

The men's version of the Brooks Ghost 9 weighs about 10.5 oz (298 grams), and the Brooks Transcend 3 for men weighs 11.4 oz (323 grams).

If you are runner who is looking for an overall plush ride with stability you barely notice, the Brooks Transcend 3 might be what you are looking for.

And if you are a neutral runner who is looking for a soft ride but not too soft to impede you from running faster, you may want to look into the Brooks Ghost 9.
