ADVERTISEMENTS

The uppers of the Brooks Glycerin 15 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 differ somewhat in construction.

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com tends to have an upper that exposes more mesh than the upper of the Brooks Glycerin 15 does, especially in the forefoot.

Both come with thinnish overlays to hold the mesh in place, but the overlays on the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 are located more towards the back of the running shoe, while those on the Brooks Glycerin 15 run throughout the entire upper.

Therefore, the Brooks Glycerin 15 is likely to provide a somewhat overall tighter fit than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18.

The Brooks Glycerin 15 also looks a bit more durable than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18, with its stitched-on toecap and stitched-on overlay at the back of the running shoe.

All in all, both running shoes should feel comfortable on your feet, but the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 might feel a bit softer and looser in its upper than the Brooks Glycerin 15.

The biggest difference between the Brooks Glycerin 15 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 can be found in the midsoles.

Because the Brooks Glycerin 15 is intended to deliver a soft ride, it implements a much softer type of midsole cushioning than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18.

The difference in cushioning is evident from running shoe lab tests, which show that the Brooks Glycerin 15 is cushier than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18.

However, because the amount of cushioning delivered by the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 has improved compared to previous versions, it does not lag far behind the Brooks Glycerin 15.

In fact, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 delivers an above average amount of heel and forefoot cushioning to both men and women and can be said to be quite cushy for a stability running shoe.

However, if a very soft ride is what you are after, the Brooks Glycerin 15 would be the one to turn to.

Another difference between the midsoles of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 and the Brooks Glycerin 15 is that the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 comes with a long medial post that is meant to control overpronation, while the Brooks Glycerin 15 does not have such a post, because it is meant to be worn by runners who do not need much stability and support.

However, running shoe lab tests still rate the Brooks Glycerin 15 as a stable running shoe despite it being a neutral running shoe.

This is probably due to the fact that it provides a good amount of ground contact just like the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 does, and that its midsole is well segmented just like the one of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is on the lateral side.

However, in terms of stability and support, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 is placed much higher than the Brooks Glycerin 15 due to the addition of that medial post.

The rubber outsoles of the Brooks Glycerin 15 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 differ in layout, but both come with small rubber pods and provide a good amount of separation throughout the entire outsole.

However, the Brooks Glycerin 15 has more deep flex grooves in its forefoot than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 does, and the result of this is evident in running shoe lab tests, which show that the Brooks Glycerin 15 is more flexible than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 for both men and women.

In fact, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 can be said to be somewhat stiff, but this is a good thing when you are after stability and support.

The women's version of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 weighs approximately 8.3 oz (235 grams), while the Brooks Glycerin 15 for women weighs approximately 8.8 oz (249 grams).

The men's version of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 weighs about 9.7 oz (275 grams), and the Brooks Glycerin 15 for men weighs 10.7 oz (303 grams).

Making a decision between the Brooks Glycerin 15 and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 should not be a difficult one.

If you are an overpronator who needs lots of stability and support, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 was made for you, and if you are a neutral runner, the Brooks Glycerin 15 can give you what you need.

While the Brooks Glycerin 15 is seen as a stable running shoe, it is not as stable as the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 to serve runners who need lots of stability and support.

And while the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18 can be seen as a cushy running shoe, it is not a cushy as the Brooks Glycerin 15 to give runners who want lots of cushioning a very soft ride.

Note: The weight of a running shoe depends on the size of the running shoe, so any weights mentioned in this review may differ from the weight of the running shoe you choose to wear. Running shoes of the same size were compared for this review.
