The Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 and the Brooks Addiction 13 are stability running shoes that fall in the motion control running shoe category.

ADVERTISEMENTS

The Brooks Addiction 13 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com is not really the counterpart of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2, but it can compete well with it.

The counterpart of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 is the Brooks Ariel 18 / Brooks Beast 18.

The uppers of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 The preceding link takes you to Amazon.com and the Brooks Addiction 13 are alike in that they both come with broad overlays around the midfoot that contain some stitches, so both running shoes offer durable and a lot of support around the midfoot where overpronators need the most support.

However, while the overlays around the midfoot of the Brooks Addiction 13 are pulled back to open up room for the bunion window, the overlays around the midfoot of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 come a bit forward and there are extra no-sew overlays close to the bunion window that makes that area a bit constricted.

Therefore, while the Brooks Addiction 13 has no-sew overlays on its toe box and the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 does not have anything on its toe box other than engineered mesh, the toe box of the Brooks Addiction 13 might offer a bit more room and thus feel a bit more comfortable than that of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2.

While the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 has stitched-on overlays and a sturdy external heel counter around the heel, the Brooks Addiction 13 only offers stitched-on overlays in that area, so the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 is the one that offers more support at the back.

Because the external heel counter of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 comes far forward, it helps minimize heel rotation and starts the process of pronation control in the upper instead of the midsole.

When you take everything into consideration, the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 offers more support through its upper than the Brooks Addiction 13.

Both the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 and the Brooks Addiction 13 are meant to offer a good amount of cushioning through their midsoles.

The midsoles of both running shoes are quite alike in offering full ground contact under the midfoot and having a post on the medial side to control overpronation.

Because the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 comes with an EVERUN topsole that is meant to offer heel-to-toe cushioning, it is expected to be somewhat cushier than the Brooks Addiction 13, which only has one main layer of foam in its midsole and uses Brooks' standard midsole material.

The medial post is long in both running shoes but more triangular in the midsole of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 and squarish in the midsole of the Brooks Addiction 13.

Because of this difference, the Brooks Addiction 13 covers a larger area of the midsole with its post, so when you consider the external heel counter in the upper of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 plus the shape of the medial post in the midsole, the Brooks Addiction 13 might match the degree of pronation control offered by the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2.

Both the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 and the Brooks Addiction 13 have a broad running platform, although the outsole of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 seems straighter under the midfoot than that of the Brooks Addiction 13.

This kind of platform is suitable for runners who have broad, large, or flat feet.

While the outsole of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 is well segmented, it is somewhat less segmented than that of the Brooks Addiction 13, which comes with small rubber pods.

However, the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 has more deep flex grooves than the Brooks Addiction 13, which only has cuts in its rubber outsole with segmentation on the lateral side.

Nonetheless, neither running shoe is expected to be flexible, although the Brooks Addiction 13 might turn out to be a bit more flexible despite its lack of deep flex grooves.

The women's version of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 weighs approximately 10.5 oz (298 grams) and the Brooks Addiction 13 for women weighs approximately 8.7 oz (247 grams).

The men's version of the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 weighs about 12 oz (340 grams), and the Brooks Addiction 13 for men weighs about 13.3 oz (377 grams).

If you are a severe overpronator who is looking for a lot of support and a comfortable ride, you can look into either the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 or the Brooks Addiction 13.

Both running shoes are good for heavier runners and runners who have flat feet.

The Brooks Addiction 13 has less stability features than the Saucony Redeemer ISO 2, but it offers support in all the right places and enough pronation control to serve severe overpronators but not to the degree of a Brooks Ariel 18 / Brooks Beast 18.

The Saucony Redeemer ISO 2 offers a very secure fit and might also deliver a somewhat softer ride than the Brooks Addiction 13. However, the amount of pronation control might be about the same as in the Brooks Addiction 13.

Note: The weight of a running shoe depends on the size of the running shoe, so any weights mentioned in this review may differ from the weight of the running shoe you choose to wear. Running shoes of the same size were compared for this review.
