In two previous articles I wrote about the Brooks Addiction 9 and the New Balance WR1123 motion control running shoes for women.

The Brooks Addiction 9 is a running shoe from Brooks that is comparable to the New Balance WR817, so it should differ quite a bit from the New Balance WR1123 made by New Balance. Let's compare these two motion control running shoes and take a look at where they are similar and how they are different.

Looking at the Brooks Addiction 9 and the New Balance WR1123 side-by-side gives a good comparison of the two motion control running shoes.

Both running shoes have a plate in the midsole - called a Rollbar - to control overpronation, which classifies them to be motion control running shoes.

The uppers of the Brooks Addiction 9 and the New Balance WR1123 both consist of breathable mesh with synthetic overlays. The Brooks Addiction 9 has slightly more mesh than the New Balance WR1123, which means that it will not only fit a bit more loose, but also provide your feet with more air.

However, the synthetic overlays on the Brooks Addiction 9 around the midfoot somewhat counteract its "looseness", but again the New Balance WR1123 with its NLock external support system, which ensures that the shoe is pulled snugly around your midfoot will provide you with a more secure and custom fit than the Brooks Addiction 9.

Turning our attention now to the outsoles, we can see that the durable rubber on the outsole of the Brooks Addiction 9 and on the New Balance WR1123 is similarly placed, that is, almost over the entire outsoles of the running shoes.

This means that both running shoes will provide you with an equal amount of durability with no particular emphasis placed on any section of the bottoms of the running shoes.

Both the Brooks Addiction 9 and New Balance WR1123 are expected to provide you with an equal amount of flexibility in the forefoot area, although the New Balance WR1123 might be a bit more flexible up to the toes, because it has many smaller flex grooves in that area which the Brooks Addiction 9 does not have.

Surprisingly, the Brooks Addiction 9 and the New Balance WR1123 turned out to be very similar shoes after analyzing them. The main difference between these two running shoes is that the Brooks Addiction 9 is an environmentally friendly motion control running shoe with BioMoGo in its midsole and shoe laces made of recycled material, while the New Balance WR1123 is a Medicare / HCPCS code = A5500 Diabetic shoe, which the Brooks Addiction 9 is not.

The New Balance WR1123 weighs approximately 11.6 oz (329 grams), while the Brooks Addiction 9 weighs approximately 10.6 oz (301 grams), so is 1.0 oz (28 grams) lighter than the New Balance WR1123 when you compare motion control running shoes by weight.

If you're looking for a Medicare diabetic shoe that is flexible and provides pronation control in addition to a secure fit, then the New Balance WR1123 would be the running shoe to go with.

If you are looking for a slightly lighter motion control running shoe, which is environmentally friendly and provides good stability and pronation control, then the Brooks Addiction 9 might be the running shoe for you.

The suggested retail motion control running shoe price of the New Balance WR1123 is US $147.99, which is almost US $48 more expensive than the Brooks Addiction 9, which costs around US $100.
