Learn what the difference is between ASICS GEL Evolution 6 and Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 from this review, and find the cheapest price for these two motion control running shoes.
In two previous articles I reviewed the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 and the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 motion control running shoes for women.
In addition, I have also previously compared the ASICS GEL-Evolution 5 vs. Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2. In that last article, the ASICS GEL-Evolution 5 won in the weight and heel-striker cushioning department, while the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 won in the flexibility area.
Let us now compare the new versions of both running shoes and see how they stack up against each other.
Looking at the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 and the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 side-by-side gives a good comparison of both types of motion control running shoes.
Let us first compare the areas where the previous versions of both running shoes excelled. In the heel-striker cushioning area, not much has changed, because the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 still offers a separate lug at the back and both sides of the heel, meaning that if you land on any one of them, the shock will stay there and not affect your stride.
But having said that, it does not mean that the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 is not good for heel-strikers. While the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 has 3 separate lugs under the heel, the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS has 2 of which one wraps the outside of the heel till the back of the heel. And because this lug, which in reality consists of 4 separate lugs, is positioned the way it is, it too is expected to absorb any shock that heel-strikers who land mostly on the outsides or back of their heels would experience.
One area in which Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS excelled last time against the ASICS GEL-Evolution 5 was flexibility in the forefoot. And the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 is no exception. The ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 offers two horizontal flex grooves in the forefoot area, while the Saucony ProGrid Stabil Cs 2 offers three flex grooves in the same area in addition to smaller grooves between the many rubber lugs. So the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 is still expected to give you more flexibility.
Both the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 and the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 have a vertical flex groove that run similarly from the heel to the forefoot, so both running shoes are expected to help you better your stride and/or run more efficiently.
What is also very similar in the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 and the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 is the way the uppers of the two running shoes wrap and hug your feet. Both have synthetic overlays that wrap your feet from heel to midfoot. Both also have synthethic overlays that hug your feet around the midfoot and lock them down on the platform, thereby offering you a secure fit.
The main difference between these two running shoes lies in the midsole, where ASICS have added extra softening material in their ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 for women, have softened the synthetic overlays to increase comfort, and have raised the heel a bit to relieve tension and stress off the Achilles. The small comfort features on the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 really stick out and could be a decision-making point between these two great motion control running shoes.
The Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 weighs approximately 11.6 oz (329 grams), which is 0.4 oz (12 grams) heavier than the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6, which weighs 11.2 oz (317 grams), so the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 beats the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 when you compare motion control running shoes by weight, just as its predecessor did.
Both the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS 2 and the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 cost the same amount of money (US $120) when you compare motion control running shoes by price.
