ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 vs. ASICS GEL-Foundation 10 review
Learn how ASICS GEL Evolution 6 and ASICS GEL Foundation 10 are different and find the lowest price online for these two motion control running shoes.
In two previous articles I wrote about the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 and the ASICS GEL-Foundation 10 motion control running shoes.
ASICS GEL Evolution 6 is the best motion control running shoe from ASICS, while the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 is the second best.
But because both running shoes are made by ASICS and both running shoes have been constructed using the latest and same technologies, they should be quite similar.
When comparing the outsoles of the ASICS Evolution 6 and the ASICS Foundation 10, it is immediately visible that both running shoes have Guidance Line, which is a vertical flex groove that improves lateral movement. Both running shoes also have three crash pads in the heel area, so are similar in that respect too.
The big difference however lies in the forefoot area, where the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 has more flex grooves than the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 on its lateral side and a similar amount on the medial side. This should make the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 slightly more flexible when you transition from heel to toe and from the outside to the inside of the running shoe, so the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 should offer a bit more stability when stopping overpronation.
Speaking of overpronation, both the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 and Evolution 6 have DuoMax in their midsole to control pronation, so should offer similar support. However, the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 may feel a bit softer - especially on the feet of women - since it offers a softer thin layer of DuoMax on top of the Duomax in the midsole. Both sneakers also have GEL in the heel and forefoot to provide shock absorption and a softer road feel.
Both the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 and ASICS Foundation 10 have uppers consisting of mesh and synthetic overlays, however the wrapping of synthetic overlays around the heels is more abundant on the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 than that around the ASICS GEL Foundation 10, so the heel area of the ASICS Evolution 6 may feel a bit harder and less flexible than that of the ASICS GEL Foundation 10.
Where the women's motion control running shoes are concerned, the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 weighs 9.9 oz (281 grams), while the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 weighs 11.2 oz (317 grams), which makes the ASICS Foundation 10 1.3 oz (37 grams) lighter than the ASICS Evolution 6 when you compare motion control running shoes by weight.
If you are looking for a light ASICS motion control running shoe that provides optimum stability and good flexibility all over in addition to an appropriate amount of cushioning, the ASICS GEL Foundation 10 would fit the bill.
If you are looking for heavy duty support and stability, coupled with exceptional cushioning, and do not mind the weight of your sneakers, then the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 might be the right running shoe for you.
The ASICS GEL Foundation 10 comes at a suggested retail price of US $100, while the ASICS GEL Evolution 6 is $20 more expensive at US $120 when you compare motion control running shoes by price.
