ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 review

Read this review of ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 and compare it with other motion control running shoe brands and ASICS shoe models to decide whether ASICS Evolution 6 is suitable for you.

ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 is a running shoe designed to provide support to severe overpronators.

The 2011 version of the ASICS GEL-Evolution became available in November 2010 with a wider distribution of the running shoe starting in January 2011. The previous version of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 is the ASICS GEL-Evolution 5.

The GEL-Evolution series of running shoes is one of two models of ASICS motion control running shoes. The other model is the ASICS GEL-Foundation.

The ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 is somewhat of a departure from the ASICS GEL-Evolution 5 where the construction of the upper and the tooling to control pronation are concerned. The goal of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 is to take functional comfort to a different level.

The upper of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 moves away from synthetic overlays in favor of a soft comfortable synthetic suede. However, it still consists largely of open mesh to provide your feet with breathability and to keep them cool.

The upper of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 consists of material in the forefoot that moves with your feet to reduce the potential for irritation, and the strategically placed ASICS logo located on the medial and lateral sides of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 provides you with a secure fit and uniform pull when the laces are tied.

The sockliner has been improved to give you a really cosy try-on feel. It is made of anti-microbial material that reduces odor, wicks away moisture, and provides you with additional cushioning. In addition, Personal Heel Fit memory foam lining in the heel collar provides you with a personalized fit.

The midsole of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 consists of DuoMax that extends from the heel to the midfoot. This dual densitiy midsole is designed to help control overpronation. The women's ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 has added material to lessen Achilles tendon strain and Soft Top DuoMax on top of the DuoMax for added platform comfort.

Compared to the ASICS GEL-Evolution 5, the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 has a more stable and aggressive midsole with 5 mm of added material on the medial side of the running shoe to provide you with more stability and pronation control during those long runs.

The midsole of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 also has gel cushioning both in the forefoot and rearfoot. This gel cushioning helps absorb shock during the heel-strike and toe-off phases of your runs.

The outsole of the ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 consists of durable carbon rubber and it features Guidance Line, which is a vertical flex groove component of the Impact Guidance System from ASICS, primarily designed to provide you with a smoother transition from heel-strike to toe-off and improve your gait efficiency.

In addition, the separate rubber compartments in the heel help dissipate shock so that this does not affect your ride, and blown rubber in the forefoot gives you that added cushioning and plush feel where you need it.

The ASICS GEL-Evolution 6 weighs approximately 11.2 oz (317 grams), which is a bit heavier than its predecessor when you compare motion control running shoes by weight and it retails for US $120, which is kind of in the midrange price when you compare motion control running shoes by price.
